President’s Message
for June 2008
I normally could sit down for
a few minutes and write my monthly message, but seeing as this is my last one, it took a little longer. After three
years as President, it is time for someone else to take the reigns and lead our association. As I leave my position,
I am confident and excited about the leadership that will be following me.
When I became President, I created a list of goals
to accomplish during my term. I haven't achieved them all, but I hope that I have hit the most important ones.
We have great strides in terms of membership during
some hard financial times for golf courses. We have lost members due to budget constraints, but we have been able to
reach out to non-members and created some new relationships.
We have become more involved in statewide events
involving other organizations. We have participated in many different research tournaments around the state, as well
as, continued to set the benchmark for all research tournaments by hosting the Jeff Hayden Memorial Envirotron Golf Classic
annually.
We have worked hard to create a website that is
a valuable tool and a way to communicate efficiently with members and those interested in our association. It started
off simple, but has evolved and will continue to do so in order to keep up with the current trends.
With the onset of the PDI program by the GCSAA
and the continued need for Pesticide CEUs, we recognized the need to provide educational opportunities for our members.
We have worked hard to find interesting and appropriate topics and speakers for our meetings.
In closing, it has been an honor to serve these
past few years as President. I am certain that our association will continue to thrive and succeed in future years
and that we will remain a strong organization.
